What: Fourth of July celebration and fireworks show from Stearns Wharf

Live music begins at 11:00 AM Fireworks show begins at 9 p.m.

Where: Stearns Wharf and West Beach, Santa Barbara, along Cabrillo Boulevard

Why: Stearns Wharf celebrates Independence Day with the best view of the annual fireworks show. While waiting for the fireworks show to begin, the wharf offers many attractions including:

  • Live music provided by Santa Barbara Youth Music Academy and Notes for Notes® (11:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
  • Live music by Tequila Mockingbird (From 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM)
  • Face Painting
  • Ice cream, sherbet, candy, popcorn, fudge, and cotton candy
  • Jewelry, hats, leather goods, art, crafts, gifts, and Toys
  • Shells, mineral, and fossils
  • Wine tasting
  • Sportswear clothing
  • Bait and tackle and fishing gear rental
  • Palm reading
  • Fresh fish, shellfish, steaks, prime rib, fish and chips, burgers, cocktails, exotic tropical drinks, and more
  • Child-friendly water taxi and harbor tours
  • Interactive Sea Center museum

After dark, watch the annual pyrotechnic display from one of the best locations in the city as fireworks shoot out over the harbor.

Stearns Wharf is located in the harbor in Santa Barbara, California. When completed in 1872, it became the longest deep-water Wharf between San Pedro and San Francisco. Named for its builder, local lumberman John P. Stearns, the wharf served the passenger and freight shipping needs of California’s South Coast for over a century. Tequila Mockingbird is a Santa Barbara-based rock band that has been performing
around the area for many years. They specializing in dishing up their own signature
interpretation of the best classic and modern rock, blues, funk and groove to the delight of
all who want to enjoy high-energy live music.
The vocal styling of lead singer Bob McDermott is a constant, as well as the thumping
groove of bass player Jim Giles. With drummer Steve (Stevie Thunder) Timm, and the
extraordinary guitar work of Pete Wolf, they have settled into a rock solid group that locals
can count on for a good time to be had by all.


Santa Barbara Youth Music Academy is a non-profit music school started in 2009 to inspire and nurture the next generation of musicians. Executive Directors William Fiedtkou and Barbara Moseley and amazing staff coupled with their beautiful new location provides a one of a kind learning environment.

Notes for Notes® is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that designs, equips, and staffs after-school recording studios inside Boys & Girls Clubs offering youth the opportunity to explore, create, and record music for FREE. Notes for Notes Studios are packed with professional instruments – guitars, basses, drums, keyboards/synths – and equipment – DJ gear, digital music workstations – and full recording facilities. Jazz Villains are an up and coming youth jazz combo based out of Santa Barbara, CA. In
just under a year, the six-piece have already made their mark at venues such as SantaBarbara’s SOhO and Ventura’s Surf Brewery. All members range from ages twelve to sixteen,
giving their audience a contemporary and refreshing approach to classic jazz standards.
Herbie Hancock’s “Watermelon Man, Miles Davis’ “So What” and Bobby Hebb’s “Sunny”
being some of their most notable renditions. More recently, Jazz Villains teamed up with
David Rojas to record the classic, “Autumn Leaves,” at the Notes For Notes® studios.
